The best way to move assets from one brokerage account to another is through an ACAT transfer.
This is generally initiated by the firm that will be receiving your assets. Some information you'll likely need for this include:
- Your account number
- Click on your initials in the upper right corner > select "Setting," > then "Accounts."
- If you need more help finding your account number, check out our article on that here.
- The DTC number you use to transfer out is 3164.
ACAT transfers usually take 3-7 business days. Your receiving institution may also request you fill out transfer paperwork on their end. Outgoing ACATs from Altruist have an associated fee $75.

Alternatively, you can liquidate your account (turn all your holdings into cash) and then transfer the funds to your bank account.
Keep in mind if you have a taxable account that there are tax implications for any capital gains or losses that you realize when liquidating your account.
In order to do this, you'll want to email us at support@carboncollective.co so that we can initiate your account liquidation. Once the funds are available for withdrawal, you can transfer the money to your bank account through the Altruist portal.
Then, you can deposit the funds into your new account of choice.
